Squeak, Squawk, MicroVM
I remember 6 years ago in 2002 when I gang up with Ivan and Cheen to write Java application on Kilobyte VM in the first Symbian 60 Nokia phone in Singapore. Those were fun times. Saw this article on Sun Microsystem's MicroVM. This VM has an even smaller footprint, with more components are pure Java. For devices more constraint like ID badges. I like the idea of the VM supporting my preservation of execution state for transport across VM, and continue from where the program left off. This is the link.

Singapore Red Cross Low Bandwidth
Saw on the news again the earthquake in China and the appeal to donate to Singapore Red cross. I went to the Singapore Red Cross website and saw that there was already half a million hits and traffic was terribly slow. Slow traffic will cause online donations to timeout and fail. I wonder how much these humanitarian organizations invest into their infocom infrastructure, or do they see it as a liability. Tsk tsk...

iPowerWeb sucks
Somehow my original blog at baobiao.simisai.com has been deleted by the idiots at iPowerWeb. They deleted the subdomain folder that baobiao.simisai.com is pointing to when they migrated over to the so called new version of "vDeck". There is absolutely no confirmation from me as to whether I would like to keep my folders. First they overcharge for poor service, then they take 4 months to complete the "upgrade". Then now this.
